New Orient
The New Oriente region, one of the youngest coffee-producing areas in Guatemala, has undergone a major transformation in recent decades. Once dominated by small producers who grew coffee as a secondary crop, the region has evolved thanks to investments in infrastructure and the professionalization of agricultural activities. Today, farms like Las Brisas carry on the tradition, in a modern and sustainable context.
Marvin Carias purchased his first plot of land in 1990 and has since steadily expanded the property, integrating modern and sustainable farming practices. He has introduced balanced shade systems, replanted aging trees and modernized the wet mill, which processes both his own harvest and coffee cherries from surrounding smallholder farmers.

The coffee is processed by washing , which involves a controlled fermentation of approximately 12 hours, followed by careful washing and natural drying on terraces. This process allows the coffee's natural clarity and sweetness to be accentuated.
A special aspect of Marvin's work is its concern for the environment: its wastewater treatment system includes eight successive tanks , through which the water passes through a complete filtration cycle before being reused in the production process. This approach reduces the environmental impact and optimizes the consumption of resources.

Beyond exceptional coffee, Marvin is a driving force in the development of the local community. He buys cherries from small producers in the surrounding area, offering them a secure channel for capitalization and contributing to the local economy. By collaborating with Primavera, a social impact cooperative, he manages to connect local farmers with international markets.
The result of this involvement is visible in the daily life of the community: better roads, access to medical and educational services, as well as a more optimistic outlook for young people in the area.
Tasting notes
This coffee offers a balanced profile, with low acidity and a sweetness reminiscent of red fruits and milk chocolate. The body is round and the aftertaste is clean and long.
