San Ramón Height

\nCafé de Altura de San Ramón is not just a farm – it is a center of excellence, located in the West Valley region, one of the most fertile and appreciated areas of Costa Rica. With a mild climate, altitudes of up to 1450 m and rich volcanic soils, the farm offers ideal conditions for growing specialty coffee. Founded in 2004, Café de Altura operates as a hybrid model between a cooperative and a private company, bringing together hundreds of local producers in a common mission: exceptional, sustainably sourced coffee. In addition to modern infrastructure, the farm constantly invests in the community and research, being a key player in Costa Rican coffee innovation.

handcuffs

Catuai is a popular choice in Costa Rica due to its adaptability and flavor qualities. Grown between 1000 and 1450 meters above sea level, San Ramón Catuai develops slowly, accumulating complex sugars and aromatic compounds that are then found in the cup. The batch we chose for roasting reflects the balanced and rich profile of the region: a round, expressive coffee with a friendly yet memorable character.

Natural processing with spectacular results

Natural processing – a process that involves drying whole cherries, including the pulp, directly in the sun. It is a traditional but extremely demanding method that requires great care to avoid unwanted fermentations. At Café de Altura, the team follows a rigorous sorting and drying protocol to achieve a clear, clean, yet exuberant profile. This natural fermentation brings out the sweetness and fruity aromas, giving the coffee a dense texture and a layered aromatic layer.

Tasting notes that delight and surprise

From the first contact with the coffee, you are greeted by a tropical wave: exotic fruits , berries and chocolate . The sweetness is vibrant, the body is high and velvety, and the acidity, moderate, perfectly complements the roundness sensation. It is the kind of coffee that works excellently in both espresso and alternative brews, offering a complex and memorable experience in any preparation method. An ideal choice for those looking for a fruity but balanced coffee, with a long and satisfying finish.
